Greetings, my name is Van A. James. I am SUPER excited to be the new Assistant Principal of Bessemer City Middle School! I have been in education for nineteen years. I am a 1995 graduate of Jess Lanier High School. I received my B.S. from Alabama A&M University in Elementary and Early childhood Education. I also received my M.A. in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
My teaching journey began at Abrams Elementary School where I taught fourth grade. My next stop was right here at Bessemer City Middle School teaching sixth grade science. After leaving Bessemer City Middle School my journey took me to Jonesboro Elementary School where I proudly served as Assistant Principal. As not only a nineteen year educator and administrator, I am a product of this community. I am humbled as well as honored to serve my community in this capacity. I am husband to Jocelyn James and father to Kobie and Brooklyn James.
