Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! I am pleased to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you and welcome your student to the eighth grade at Bessemer City Middle School. This will be my 20+ year in education. I am a proud graduate of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University "The Hill" in Normal, Alabama. I completed my Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and minored in French. However, my quest for knowledge didn’t end at Alabama A&M University. I received my Master of Education degree in Secondary Education English, from “The Alabama State University” in Montgomery, Alabama. After receiving my master's degree, I started my very first teaching job at Jess Lanier High School in Bessemer, Alabama. As a classroom teacher, I saw a much greater need for me to make a difference in the lives of my students in the administrative arena. Therefore, I re-enrolled in Alabama State University, earning my Education Specialist Degree and served as an assistant principal for eleven years.
English is a subject area that incorporates lesson plans in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing. I am really looking forward to the upcoming school year, building upon the skills students mastered last year, and helping students accomplish new challenges in the language arts subject area. I feel that a positive learning experience is built on a collaborative effort among parents, student, and teacher, and I welcome your questions and concerns as the year progresses.
We have many expectations for our eighth-grade students at Bessemer City Middle School. One of the biggest is being responsible for assignments and actions. Your student is responsible for completing and turning in each assignment. Homework will be assigned in my class and will include daily reading logs (Monday-Thursday) which are expected to be turned in EVERY FRIDAY ON SCHOOLOGY/GOOGLE CLASSROOM, unless otherwise noted on my web page lesson plans. It is essential that you follow up at home with assignments, projects, homework, correspondences, and reinforcing positive behavior. My weekly lessons and homework will be posted on this website for you weekly to view.
It is my ultimate goal for each of my eighth-grade students to experience success and to foster a love of reading and writing. I am thrilled to work with you and your child over the course of the school year. If questions or concerns should arise, please feel free to email or call anytime. ¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2020-21! Me complace aprovechar esta oportunidad para presentarme y darle labienvenida a su estudiante al octavo grado en Bessemer City Middle School. Este será mi más de 20 años en educación. Soy un orgulloso graduado de la Universidad Agrícola y Mecánica de Alabama "The Hill" en Normal, Alabama. Completé mi Licenciatura en Artes en Inglés y una especialización en Francés. Sin embargo, mi búsqueda de conocimiento no terminó en Alabama A&M University. Recibí mi título de Maestría en Educación en Inglés de Educación Secundaria, de "The Alabama State University" en Montgomery, Alabama. Después de recibir mi maestría, comencé mi primer trabajo como profesor en Jess Lanier High School en Bessemer, Alabama. Como maestra de aula, vi una necesidad mucho mayor de hacer una diferencia en la vida de mis estudiantes en el ámbito administrativo. Por lo tanto, me reinscribí en la Universidad Estatal de Alabama, obtuve mi título de especialista en educación y me desempeñé como subdirector durante once años.
El inglés es un área temática que incorpora planes de lecciones en lectura, escritura, comprensión auditiva, expresión oral y visualización. Realmente espero con ansias el próximo año escolar, aprovechando las habilidades que los estudiantes dominaron el año pasado y ayudando a los estudiantes a lograr nuevos desafíos en el área de las artes del lenguaje. Siento que una experiencia de aprendizaje positiva se basa en un esfuerzo de colaboración entre padres, estudiantes y maestros, y agradezco sus preguntas e inquietudes a medida que avanza el año.
Tenemos muchas expectativas para nuestros estudiantes de octavo grado en Bessemer City Middle School. Uno de los más importantes es ser responsable de las asignaciones y acciones. Mi objetivo final es que cada uno de mis estudiantes de octavo grado experimente el éxito y fomente el amor por la lectura y la escritura.
