I am a proud graduate of Miles College.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree with a concentration in Music Education/Choral in 2015.

I served as a k-8 general music and choir teacher in Birmingham City Schools for five years. 

  Hello! My name is Georgecia' Cowan. I was born and raised here in the great city of Bessemer! I am the only child;however, I have a large family that spans from Bessemer, Alabama to Chicago, Illinois. I am a product of Bessemer City School's System and I am excited to be back home serving as your Bessemer City Middle School Choir director. I attened Greenwood Elementary School, James A. Davis Middle School, and graduated from Jess Lanier High School in 2009. Upon graduation from Jess Lanier, I attened Miles College. During college I was afforded the opportunity to participate in the Miles College Choir (Golden Voices), sing in an ensemble known as The Inspirational Singers under the direction on Ms. Ruth Randall, and sing in many concerts and showcases. 

  I am so excited to be back in the building where my love for performance and singing sparked. It was here, under the direction of Mr. Andre Ashley, where I knew I wanted to teach music. I am eager to pour into my students what was poured into me here in Bessemer City Schools.
