Ms. Pugh`s Voice

Welcome Back To School

Dear White Cub Parents & Students,

Seventh grade BCMS WHITE CUBS, I hope that you have had a great

summer and are ready to become Ms. Pugh's 'Diligent Learners.' I am

Fired Up, Ready To Go!!!  I look forward to building meaningful

relationships with each of you. This is going to be a wonderful school year

for the Mighty Purple Tigers!!! Bessemer City Middle School consists of

Strong Teams Producing Strong Students!!! Bessemer City Schools are on the

road to Shifting The Paradigm!!!

2020-2021 is the school year that the Bessemer City School District will

Reimagine Bessemer City Schools and the infinite possibilities. It's time

to make strides towards productive change in our school system as well

as around the world.  Our society has entered a new norm dealing with

the global impact of Covid-19. I can not emphasize enough, WEAR YOUR

MASKS!!!  The human rights of many Americans have been compromised

and many individuals are discontent and protesting against these

injustices. We must stand in solidarity as a community and a school

system so our children will know that not only Black Lives Matter, All

Lives Matter!!  I encourage all of us to get to the polls and vote in

November, our lives depend on it!!!!

REIMAGINE BESSEMER CITY SCHOOLS,

DO THE WORK!!!!

Sincerely,

Ms. Tiffany Wilson-Pugh

Civics/Geography Instructor

Message From Your Teacher

I pray all is well with you and your families.

Projects are due on April 6th through the 10th to be averaged in towards the third nine weeks grading period (1st deadline). Any projects submitted after this time will be averaged towards the fourth nine weeks. The 2nd deadline is May 20th. My email is tpugh@bessk12.org. You must submit a picture of the poster with your name visible and a video explaining your project via email. If you have no means in which to print out your information, you can either organize your info in Microsoft Word or Google docs. I will email another copy of the project next week or download a copy on the school website under my name.

Students will login to https://www.readworks.org/using their class code and password daily. Each week students will complete an Article A Day and make a response in the Book of Knowledge box. Secondly, they will read one passage weekly. Students will create a vocabulary log in order to record all key terms. Log should be divided into 5 sections: date, word, definition, sentence using word and the name of passage. This document will be emailed to me at the end of the fourth week grading period. Students must answer the multiple choice questions and open ended questions and submit the answers to me. Lastly, each week students will browse through the library and read as many passages that are of interest to them. This is to increase their reading and vocabulary proficiency.

I will open up any passages that were not completed in the past for students to get credit for those assignments.

Those students who have their passwords for Read To Lead will be able to login to https://rtl.classroominc.org/#/login  in order to complete an episode a week. You may work at your own pace.  If you need your password I will email it to you. You will receive a grade for each assignment.

All students will work in Acellus at their own pace. Students will recieive a grade for all completed work.

STUDENT CREED

I AM A STUDENT, SEEKING TO BE A SCHOLAR

THE STANDARD IS EXCELLENCE, TODAY AND TOMMORROW

I AM DISCIPLINED, FOCUSED AND ON TIME

I AM ORGANIZED, RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE AND RESOURCEFUL

I AM ON A MISSION TO ELEVATE MYSELF, MY COMMUNITY AND HUMANITY

Mrs. Christine Knight

Mrs. Christine Knight was a jewel that will be missed.  She was my Twelfth Grade English Teacher and epitomized what it means to be a true lady and professional.  Her charisma was like no other.  She had an ability to make everyone around her feel special. Mrs. Knight is one of the number one reasons, I am proud to say that I am a product of the Bessemer City School System.  She gave her all to the teaching profession and taught all of her students that they can conquer the world. She believed in her students when they did not believe in their own abilities (reciting Canterbury Tales, constucting research paper). Mrs. Christine Knight serves as a shining example to us all and her legacy will never be forgotten.
