My name is LaSonya D. Sledge. I am from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I recieved my BS and Masters in Education from William Carey University. I also hold an endorsement in Special Education and School Counseling. I am a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Graduate Chapter in Hattiesburg, MS (Spring 2006). I began my teaching career in 1999 with the Hattiesburg Public School System. I enjoy cleaning, shopping, dancing, and spending time with my family. I am happily married and I have two children. My daughter grauduated from UAB and my son attends Miles College. I taught in the Hattiesburg Public school system for ten years before moving here to Pelham, Alabama. I previously taught at Jonesboro Elementary School in 2009.
My students view me as caring, honest and a motivational teacher who always listens and teaches with a passion for Mathematics. During my educational career, I have been awarded Teacher of the Year in 2001 and again in 2009. I am a leader as well as a mentor in my field. My students perform satisfactory and usually have little trouble with discipline problems. I am very neat and orderly and I do not tolerate disruptions in my classroom. I engage my students in learning at all times and I look forward to sharing my desire for teaching and touching the lives of children.
