My name is LaSonya D. Sledge.  I am from Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  I recieved my BS and Masters in Education from William Carey University.  I also hold an endorsement in Special Education and School Counseling.  I am a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Graduate Chapter in Hattiesburg, MS (Spring 2006).  I began my teaching career in 1999 with the Hattiesburg Public School System.  I enjoy cleaning, shopping, dancing, and spending time with my family.  I am happily married and I have two children.  My daughter grauduated from UAB and my son attends Miles College.  I taught in the Hattiesburg Public school system for ten years before moving here to Pelham, Alabama. I previously taught at Jonesboro Elementary School in 2009.

My students view me as caring, honest and a motivational teacher who always listens and teaches with a passion for Mathematics. During my educational career, I have been awarded Teacher of the Year in 2001 and again in 2009.  I am a leader as well as a mentor in my field.  My students perform satisfactory and usually have little trouble with discipline problems.  I am very neat and orderly and I do not tolerate disruptions in my classroom.  I engage my students in learning at all times and I look forward to sharing my desire for teaching and touching the lives of children.
