                                                             Conference Time 10:30-11:30

Welcome to Bessemer City Middle School’s 6th Grade Academy! I am very pleased to have the opportunity to educate and share my passion for Math with you this school year. Your goals should still be to succeed in math, get along with your peers, and come to class with a positive attitude.   My expectations for all of you remain high.

Class Guidelines

1.     Students will conduct themselves with dignity and pride.

2.    Students will complete one math project during the Spring Semester. Exact dates are tentative and details will be given at a later date.

3.  Attendance is important. If you have perfect attendance for the entire nine weeks period, you will receive an additional point on your average. School absences will not count against you. If a student is absent, it will be his or her responsibility to make up work.

4.    Every student will receive a progress report mid nine weeks.

5.    Students will be required to keep a composition notebook (a separate one each semester) for math class. I will do a “notebook check” at the end of every topic.

(Due to large number of specific standards and different time frames of mastery, dates are tentative)

August                    Chapter 1 (Whole number and decimals)

Chapter 2 (Fractions)

September                Chapter 3 (Rational Numbers)

October                      Chapter 4(Ratios and Rates) Chapter 5 (Percents)
